Neil,

Your Ford GT is coming along nicely. It's a very complicated paint job, and it looks like there are lots of fiddly parts. I've considered picking this car up several times from my LHS, but then I look at that paint scheme and I put it back. I commend you for building it, and it does look really, really nice.

Just 2 more days to go, and then our ribbon awarding will commence.

Just want to personally thank each and everyone of you for your contributions, inputs, and incouragement throughout our GB. Almost everyone has stayed the course long after they've finished their official entry, so the GB never became stale or boring.

And a very special thanks to Damian for his constant efforts and hard work including his updated stats so that we all knew what the status of the GB builds are.

Excellent finish, gentlemen!

Loved the Bronco and the Mustang!
Absolutely glad to see the Revell's GT coming in force for the finish (both Bronco and Ford GT are kits I have considered to buy - and I still am).

Joel and Damian, tremendous job on keeping running the campaign and I am considering it a great success.

Congrats to everyone who participated, even if the builds weren't finished.

Looking forward to seeing you in the next one!

David, after I abandoned the BMF and I've ran circles all over the place with silver markers, Molotow pens, Alclad and I don't know what more, I came back to BMF. Definitely the best choice fir this kind of application!

Richard,
You really nailed it Sir Excellent BMF application for sure. To this day I can't get it to work with me no matter what.

I always loved my Mustangs in Red, so naturally my 1970 302 ci V8 Mustang was in Red with a Black interior, and had a custom painted engine hood just so that everyone knew it was me hitting the Drive In.

So it's done boys, the beast is finally slain!!!

This kit....where do I begin? A subject I wanted to build a kit of the moment I saw (and heard) it for the first time. An incredible car, that looks amazing and sounds amazing.

I did the kit in the markings of the #67 car, driven by Brits Andy Priaulx, Harry Tinknell and Brazilian Pipo Deraini. On it's debut at the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans the car finished 2nd in the GT Pro class and won the 6 Hours of Silverstone (see below).

The Revell kit.......is a mixed bag. It's not a bad kit, but for a modern kit that was only released 18 months ago, it's disappointing. It has good cockpit detail, and good engine detail....but you can't see any of it. The kit decals are excellent with great colour density and printing, but then the fit of many of the parts is somewhere between vague and poor. The rear end doesn't want to go together. I had to cut the windscreen wiper off to fit the windscreen....

As for my build of it, it was a battle. I made many mistakes, and my car building skills weren't up to the job in places especially masking and painting a complex scheme on a complex model.

But having said that, this is one of the best 4 foot models I have ever made. I turn around and look at it in the cabinet and it looks amazing. When I handle it up close I see a dozen or more little mistakes that can't be covered up with weathering!

I had my sons help with this, he did some of the interior painting and construction and a lot of the decalling. Here we are together at the 2017 Six Hours of Silverstone.

And here he is now. How did he get so big in under 3 years????

Finally, a huge, enormous thankyou to all of you guys. I couldn't have done it without your support, help, tips and encouragement. But especially Damien and Joel, your enthusiasm and passion has driven this campaign - you are both To you goes the glory. Great job fellas.

Thank you Joel!
Still learning BMF!
I cut pieces to cover the whole of the opening and then cut out the middle and then fold and burnish with a tooth pick.
Wastes a lot but cuts down on the number of joints.
My best friend in England had a 65 red fastback.
We used to get stopped often by the cops, not for speeding!they just wanted to check it out.

Neil,
Congratulations on completing a super difficult kit with an equally difficult paint scheme. Over all, I'd say that you and with a little help from your son have done a remarkable job.

BTW, love the WEC sunglasses. Now there's a model touch I've never seen.

Never stop learning Richard!
I actually prefer to apply the BMF in multiple shorter thin strips around the windows. I try to find good reference images to see where the actual overlap points are on the 1:1 vehicle. OCD much?

Awesome build Neil. Builders can always recognize their own faults but to my eyes this looks superb despite your challenges with the kit. Great also to have the tie up with your son to help you get it there.

cheers
