Hey Gang, Going to try something new.
Made my first Truck kit buy the other day. Revell's 1/25th Pete 359. Picked it up for under $25 at Hobby Lobby when I was waiting on a Customer to get loaded.
Plans are to CUSTOMIZE this ride. Lower the front, put on 9" pipes, strech the frame, fenders, tanks, lower the 36" sleeper and cab, sucide the doors, add rear window, oval, to the sleeper, front bumper, lights from a Duce or Vette, and replace the grille. Plus the custom paint, I'm thinking an "Iron Maiden" theme truck, Flight 666.
Photo's fourth coming. Stay tuned.

Sounds ambitious, but interesting. Looking forward to the photos.
This is the Revell USA kit or the Revell of Germany kit?

Thx, James.
I figured it was time to try something like this on a larger scale other then 1/35th. The kit I think is Revell U.S., I'll have to get back to you on that one, not sure.
Still in the planning stage with this one.

That's the Revell USA kit. I have a couple; it builds out nicely, and it really does just snap together. It's a pretty well engineered kit, and the Caterpiller 3406 is quite wel detailed. Tires suck, though. Too skinny. It's a reissue of the Monogram kit.

I plan on dropping one of my said kits to a low rider, problem is the cab and sleeper floors are molded to the frame{you'll see} and will have to be cut off/out and refitted...or replaced. The standard AMT kit would be alittle easier to ahndle this, but really, only alittle easier.
I wanted to rake the grill alittle, raise the fenders to almost the pete emblem and chop the cab and sleeper tops. As a stand alone unit it would look good...till ya put a trailer behind it, so I was thinking of chopping a trailer too and make a total custom look.

I'm gonna watch this one too.
Quick question guys. How much taller and longer can you stretch out the sleeper and be somewhat accurate? I'm guessing you'd have to stretch the frame the same amount?
Thanks,

Hey Bob,
I think I've can get around the cab molded to the frame issue, I'll be posting that part shortly. I'm hold up in Texarkana for a few days while the truck gets a new drive-line, Freightliner recall.
Hey Julian,
Not sure if I'm going to do that one.
Hey John,
Welcome aboard, the frame on this kit is not as accurate as I 'd like it. Pete's have a "C" channel frame, this kit doesn't. So some modifing is needed if your going to have the frame showing.
The Max. for road use is 300" inch wheelbase per D.O.T. Regs., Show trucks are longer. 400" inches is the max I think for a show rig. Any longer then 300" inches the trucks is not allowed in Canada without a special permit.
Height can not be over 13'-6" Min. for the tractor, however, some trailers are at 14'-6" which in some states is a big no-no. Height varies for trailers also. But the standard height for tractor and trailer is 13'-6".

Brian the artwork looks rather nice!. The only concern is the fact will it hide the any of the detail and blending it in is going to be tricky. Never the less it does look rather fetching!
Good start

What do we think?!...alittle more to the left for the cab one and ya nailed it!
(I woulda done mega death myself, but each to his own....hahaha)
Brian, for my pete needlenose, I cut the floor off and made a new frame out of evergreen c channel, cut the sleeper off and filled the cab hole in back with flat stock{I wanted a daycab}, and set the cab on the front directly to the frame and made a cross mount for the rear of the cab.
Tossed the air bags out back too and scratched the leafs and used spares for the springs mounts since I was going for a much earlier era truck. Next one will have the rear tag that they had for tandems.
