Hi Guys,

I'm sorely tempted to revise my choice. I saw this Fuelly at an airshow on the weekend and it really tickled my fancy. MUCH scratching, though.
It's an International Acco spider RAAF fuel truck. I'd need to scratch the cab and all that plumbing, possibly even the tank.
But it looks sooooo good!

Haven't looked at those book in waaaay too long...I was mistaken - it was the the one in the back of Phil's book...right after the Reo short hood build....
That was the Oshkosh F-series.

Correct sir...I can see that one with a huge snow plow and a salt bed. The rims and tires would be the major work for that one...following hermon's or casper's tire building technique would solve that. Not too many pics that I've seen show the super singles in the rears....that would ease up that problem.

Bob,
You could always grab a tyre from the early Paystar Logger (had wide singles), just have to shave it down and add a decent tread pattern OR do it in a different scale (1/34th) and flog the wheels from a First Gear Oshkosh Front Discharge Mixer

. If you went the second route then it would need to be a P-Series.
Roger.
Edit. Just a thought (yes it did hurt

) doesn't the Trump ALF kit have super singles ?.

Grubby,
Nice truck, hope you go ahead with that build.
I'll have a hunt through my old Pet Op course notes as somewhere in the pile I have the pump layout diagrams and basic dimensions.
Will advise when, if found.
Roger.

Hi Roger,
I'm sure you know EXACTLT how much help that info would be. In fact, it would probably be the deciding factor.
Thanks and good luck in the search.

That fuel truck does look cool!...twin steer and all. The cab would be fairly simple since it's straight sided...am I reading "International" on the grill?

Hi Bob,
You are. It's an International Acco from the mid 1980s I think. A local Aussie truck. They are now owned by Iveco and I don't think they produce locally any more.
I actually worked on a brochure for it at the time and kept a sample for my folio. It wasn't offered as a spider, biggest was a 6x4, so the chassis might be from the slightly larger T series, which was.

Well I bought my kit for this build. I was in my LHS and they had an Italeri "Australian Truck" just sitting there calling my name. I was going to do it OOTB but I'm thinking of dechroming most (if not all) of the chrome parts and rechroming and/or stainless steeling and/or aluminiuming the relevant ones. I'm also thinking of doing some minor detailing of the engine. So...at the moment I'm just researching.
Cheers
Shane

#719. This one's a Western STar. I'm told a 4900 with a Cummins diesel but that's about all I have at the moment.

Hi Guys,
I'm still tossing up between the ACCO Fueller and the Diamond Reo and Fruehauff rig.
I've got the flatbed trailer on the way, but I still need a Diamond Reo cab and bonnet. Anyone got either a Diamond Reo kit or a second hand cab and bonnet they'd be prepared to part with?
By the way, I found out that ACCO is an acronym for Australian Constructed Cab Over.

OK, It looks like I'm locking in the Diamond Reo and Freuhauf rig. I've just bought the AMT Reo and the trailer is already on the way.
The Aussie truck is a rear-set front axle version so there will still be a fair bit of modification involved.
Next question: Do I build and paint it up as a drab in-theatre Vietnam machine, or a nice and shiny local machine?
Roger, if your info turns up, I'm still very interested in doing the ACCO, so please keep me in mind.

Grubby, that's great...as far as the mods for a SBA all that's really needed is to set the front axle roughly 18" back{19mm to you guys} and cut off and reposition the fenders father back. Do you plan on the regular, kit supplied, rounded fenders or something in the way of diamond plate?{I can hook you up with the guy who I got mine from} Not too many D-Reo's got the diamond plate fender treatment...most were the rounded fenders from what I've seen on the web so far.
If you take a look at my logger build log you should be able to see where the springs fit on the chassis after moving them back and as I recall I used .040 flat sheet to fill the hood sides{.060 was too thick}.
Mind the rear cab to chassis attachment since mine didn't want to line up right - I put in a lil piece of "L" bracket in the lower rear of the interiror tub to align things up better....maybe I had a slight misalignment of the cross bar there...keep an eye out for that just in case.

Nice Logger, Bob! It looks most realistic. Nice choice of colours too.
Thanks for the advice, it will be heeded!
My rig will have the round guards reset further aft. It'll also have a local-pattern bull bar.
I'm going to build it pretty much as I saw in the museum.

You can see the full walkaround on my site
here.Thanks for your help, Bob.

sorry but your phallic symbol on wheels has zero appeal to me, I could say more but since this is a family show

.
Narrowed my choices down to 3 "possibles", just have to see which will be the easiest (since I don't have any 'spares box' after the big clean-out)

What'd ya have in mind?
2 cents for what it's worth...never toss the ol Spares box{es}...there's always a day of need even if it is long term down the road. I have an armor box of spares that's really bugging me since I'm totally burnt out on armor......
...as for the "zero apeal" thing...I spose I can understand that, but in these parts it's an american icon.

,our smallest coin is 10cents so you might have to raise your bid. Patience my friend.
Just spent a couple of hours messing about, seeing if fairly large spoked wheels (58mm dia) can be made just from plastic but it looks like I may have to revert to plan B (brass), have to do a raid on the work workshop to find some suitable dia stock.
