Pasi,
Looking at your picture from the top directly down, it shows no clear glass, so I'm assuming that you were able to pop them off. I'm betting that Tamiya used some form of White soluble glue. if so, you should be able to wash all the residue and spots off by soaking in warm water with some liquid dish washing detergent.

Decaling continues to look excellent. As for the larger decals, when I can, I do cut them into more workable sections.

Tamiya often uses or makes a color to match it decals, so the odds are very good that the Reds will match especially since your base is White Primer.

Nice job on the vertical fins as you got them to over lap so no white shows through.

Richard,
Now that's impressive. My Dremel died so I don't even have that option, but I've never thought about a mini lath. Now that's food for thought, and I'm sure that there's a ton of instructional videos on You Tube to get me past the basics.

Joel

Hi Joel
Here is the lathe I will be buying:-

There are a lot of small lathes on the market, they all have the same design with different names, it's kind of like lawn mowers MTD makes most of the cheaper ones!
One thing with these small cheaper lathes is that they have plastic gear trains but there are metal gear sets that go for about $70 which is well worth buying.
I have used way larger industrial lathes in my working life.
With a little tooling you can replace the tool post with an adjustable vice and put a milling cutter in the 3 jaw chuck which expands the use of one machine.
I will send you photos once it is in house!

Richard,
OMG!! My wife would certainly without any doubt kill me for spending nearly $1,000 on a lath for modeling. I can get away with a lot, but I'm not so sure about this.

Less than 3 weeks to run here folks, definitely turning in to the home straight with the finish line in view.

It will be great to see a couple of late completions to add to the Gallery, and I will put together a feature from the photos posted through the duration of the Group Build.

Cheers, D

D,
Looking forward to your Feature on the Campaign for sure. And with the Porsche campaign coming to an end, the Ford blue Circle campaign is getting closer and closer.

Pat,
I've got similar issues plus Medicaid issues as well with my Mother n Law, so I know what you're going through especially as you wife is at home. As Damian said family always 1st.

Whenever you get the build done is fine with us.

Neat work Richard, looks great! Well done getting this build across the line and into the garage. The brown/black combination works well.

If you get time, drop a couple of images into the Porsche Number 1 Group Build Gallery .

Richard,
Now that's one impressive Porsche build for sure. You did an exceptional job what turned out to be one difficult build.

No luck with 956 either, but at least I got to thin my stash by three Porsche kits and got some exercise painting and decaling cars

Just to clarify the windshield issue: Repsol 962C had the pre-attached windshield. The Canon 956 had traditional separate windshield.

Pasi,
Really sorry to hear that neither kit made it to the finish line. But look at the bright side that you gained more auto modeling experience.

Why not join us for the Ford Blue Circle GB starting Oct 1. We'd love to have you join us.

Hi Pasi.

I'm sorry to hear that another kit has dropped off the list, but as you said, practice makes perfect! I'm sure that you picked up some useful skills along the way.

Ricard,
I'm heading on over to checkout your pictures. This officially qualifies you for the Coveted Porsche Ribbon

You did an exceptional job on the build, and over came some missing parts with superb scratch building that would have me banging my head against the bench trying to come up with a solution other then buying a 2nd kit.

Looking forward to seeing everyone start at the start of the Ford GB.

One week left to roll home in this Group Build folks, I'm not sure if there are any more in-progress builds in the home straight, but if anybody wants to have a go at a speed-build "hot lap" in the final week, go for it!

I have the current completed builds listed as follows:

Tinbanger (Richard)
AussieReg (Damian)
Szmann (Gabriel)
Ray_from_SA (Ray)
Cosimodo (Michael)
Joel_W (Joel)

D,
Six across the finish line out of the 10 enlistees is pretty good if you ask me. But like you, I'd like to see the other 4 finish as well.

It's just the 10 enlistees that I thought was a little disappointing, but the good news is that the Ford Blue Circle GB has 20 enlistees with hopefully a few more to sign up.

Ok folks, I have awarded ribbons for the completed builds (holding one in reserve for Patrick once he tidies up some little details).

Many thanks to everybody who has participated here, both with builds and with comments, advice and support. It has been a great Group Build to follow.

Special mention to Gabriel with his multiple build effort!!

Looking forward now to the Blue Oval Group Build starting in 4 weeks.

Cheers, D
