Richard, you've gone to so much trouble on this build, why not go a little extra step and put some LED lighting in there?
Cheers, D

I will take the car to the body shop and get the twist taken out of the chassis! LOL!

I snuck up behind this in my travels a couple of days ago, a beautiful '32 under restoration. I couldn't get beside it to take a pic, but there is a nice shiny flathead V8 in the front and some stunning panel work already done. Somebody's pride and joy in the making!

Cheers, D

D,
Go for it. That's one incredible 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner restoration.
Of course the engine block color jumps right out at you as it's a bright Red/Orange. Fords V8s were usually Black till 1961 or so, then Blue, then black again. But that's doesn't hold true in many cases, so I started Googling it. Seems that Ford Used Green for Edsels, Thunderbirds were the Red/Orange, and most Flat Head V8s in the 1950s were that Red/Orange. All facts I had little 1st hand knowledge of. What I can't figure out is why Ford used such a complex engine color system.
As for being ready for the start of the Blue Oval campaign. I'm 95% ready. I've got not one but 2 Revell 1/25 scale IMSA GTO Mustangs, one with a fully corrected Resin body and vacuum form glass (out of production so if I screw up, I'm dead meat), Indy Cal decals for both: JPS gold markings with Gloss Black paint, and the Folgers car with #25 Folgers Red. I've finally located two USA automotive model paint companies that have the exact color I need, plus a few other needed colors for future builds.

Joel, you're spot on mate! As I was downloading those images I was reading the restoration story, and the car has a Thunderbird 312 cu in powerplant in it!
I'm really looking forward to your dual IMSA Mustang builds, something really not often seen around the modelling sites for sure.

D,
I actually surprised myself with getting the right answer. Now that's amazing
As for the duel build, I'm looking at it as one after the other, or at least at alternate stages. Both cars were from the Roush Racing organization, just different years as sponsorship in most cases back then changed yearly. So the actual cars themselves were virtually identical, which makes my life all that much easier, till you get to the issue of a resin body, along with a ton of custom resin parts and a vac canopy. None of which I've ever used before in a build.

Michael,
Killer cars for sure. And notice that the one semi engine picture of a T'bird, the engine block is Red/Orange. I'd love to know who came up with all those block colors for Ford.

Mark,
He sure did a really complete job, as Ford must have had to buy his full line of paints.

Richard,
Rule #5 still applies.
the Fairlane has the older Ford emblem on the engine hood right about the Fairlane name.

D,
Thanks for posting that. It's much appreciated.
I'm assuming that the older Ford emblem also qualifies as it predated the Blue Oval.

I'm not sure if this would be present on the kit part, but the name is also definitely on the front badge of a 1956 Ford Fairlane.

Cheers, D
EDIT: My eyes hurt just thinking about detail painting that !

Less than 7 weeks to go until we kick off the Blue Oval Group Build.
Let's go right back to the start the 1896 Quadricycle with its 4HP beast powerplant and responsive tiller steering.

The 1903 Model A, Henry himself at the wheel, and its emblem.

The 1908 Model T

Also I noticed a couple of new names on the enlistment roll, welcome to Arnel (IronHide) and Mike (Spruslayer), and many thanks for joining in here. Please let us know what you are thinking of building so I can add it to the list (at the bottom of the first post of this thread).
Cheers, D

D,
All those early Ford's may or may not have either The Ford name or any kind of emblem. But I do think that anyone who wants to enter a very early Ford should be allowed to do so.

WOW, D,that kinda what I remember the old '51 having for badgeing. I also remember the 8 inside the V. But I seriously doubt that I'll ever detail one like that.
