I throw myself on the mercy of the court. This is the only German car in my stash. I notice that the rules for this campaign don't specify an unstarted kit, and technically this one hasn't been assembled beyond the basic kit, since all I had done previously was to remove the fender bulges and attempt to update the rear window from 1940's to 1960's.
Is this kit allowable?
Mostly unbuilt VW bug
It's the 1/35 AeroPlast kit.
thanks,
Sean H.

Sean: Looks like the kit is 80%-90% unbuilt so it is allowed...

Enjoying seeing everybody's start!! I'm even getting close to starting!!

Next entry completed! Gunze Sangyo BMW Isetta and Messerschmitt KR200 'bubble cars'. I know that the BMW is missing it's headlights, but one was missing from the box and I'll fit them when I can find another or a suitable matching pair to replace them with. In general the fit isn't too bad, but flash is a problem and why they used vinyl on anything other than the tyres I don't know.........

BMW body.......

Vinyl parts....

The 'gruesome twosome'

There are a couple more photos in the gallery.

Next - Heller 1/24 BMW328

LOL - plenty of time at the moment as I've been off work sick. Should be back to work tomorrow or Friday so that'll slow it down a bit!

Well I thought I was the only one silly enough to tackle those two! Nice to see them completed, Dave.

I've committed the radical step of actually following the instructions for mine. That and waffling about what colour to paint the KR; I'm not really thrilled with the silver and blue in the kit scheme.

Jessica,

I basically followed the instructions, building the two cars into sub-assemblies and then completing them. The only tip is to leave the vinyl strips until last on the BMW, but to add the windscreen surround to the KR earlier in the build along with the chrome window surrounds and then paint up to them as the window edges are very indistinct. Standard superglue held these in place very well with no fogging of the clear parts.
The BMW body is a pain, mine had two coats of matt white and two coats of gloss cream and was still see-through when held up to the light.

Javier

Here's a shot of a BMW327 that I took at a motor museum earlier this year - don't know if it helps on colours or details at all:

Thanks, Dave. As for the colours, the High Command (i.e. one of my daughters)issued orders to follow this pic (From Wikipedia):

But quoting a certain Mr Bond -more or less... -"The (whole) World (of details) is not enough"

More to follow...

Great model Javier!! Never thought Hasagawa would make a car model... but they are true to the aircraft scale (1/48)!

Many thanks. It was issued originally with a FW 190 and a figure of Josef "Pips" Priller. My worst nightmare? All those chrome parts (I'm not very good with Bare-Metal)and the grilles...

Well, the show must go on!

Last for this group build for a while, as I'm working on the big Revell Routemaster Bus.
This is Heller's kit of the BMW328 racing car.

I still have a VW Beetle and Porsche 959 that qualify, but I don't know when I'll get to them.........

Nice Dave! What scale?

BTW, you folks are an speedy group! (Same in Dive! 3 campaign)
There's a couple of pics of a dry run of my "child". The good news is I need not to worry in excess about colours of gearbox, etc (will be hidden). The bad one: those pesky ejector marks!
At least I have some pieces together (not shown yet!)

Ola guys

I just got a heads up from James about this campaign in my own Merc 320 cabrio staffcar blog. Now browsing through this thread I see everybody made sprueshots. Which I don't have. Because when I started the kit I did not know about the campaign. Can I still join the built?

There weren't really rules governing sprue-shots and the like, so that is no biggy.

The only thing that I can see is that the model wasn't more than 80%-90% built before enlisting... and in the end of all things I guess that wasn't really governed either!

So welcome!!

Waaahey... Slipped past the rules

If it is any consolation I started the built well within the campaign runtime. First pictures I took were from 12 Jan... started building 2 days earlier.

Here are the pictures showing the progress to today.

If you have to ride into battle you might as well do it in style . This is SMA's Mercedes Benz 320 staffcar. Resin kit with white metal parts and some PE that I'm building as something quick to finish.

Built stage

Primer and preshade

And after half an evening of throwing paint at: it a nice layer of grey.

Next up: More painting.

And if time allows me I could crack open one of the beautiful post war racing cars I have in the stash. Have some neat German thoroughbreds in there.
