At last I have some time to post a "progress report" (Other projects, a family, a job, such little things...).

Well, there's, more or less the finished chassis: The first shot is to show the gearbox (Yes, I painted it knowing I'll never see again!). The others show the radiator and fan (also to be entombed for the posterity) and the chassis closed and exhaust and silencer in place.

Greetings to All!

Have not made any more progress but will try this wknd. Some great lil beauties being tended to here!

@Hakan- Nice job and beautiful finish to your Trabant

@Robert- Looking forward to your dio project. There's nothing like dirtying it up, right? Very realistic interior; does the horn really work on that nice steering wheel?

@Erik- Right you are! Karmann Ghia's are so unique, this will be a special project when completed.

@Javier- YOU will know those hidden parts got painted, and that's what's important!

@Steph- Cool kit, any ideas for a small scene? Look forward to the finished project.

@Sal- Great progrees so far, you'll be on completion in no time!

@MBR- Thanks for Link, I still have to decide on a final color scheme.

Cheers Dave

Dave, as some imposing (movie) character said once (more or less):

ĢThat's right, Sirģ.

Or that's the fun, after all! (though many people outside our modelling universe don't understand such simple truth...)

Robert: May I say " How dare you, Sir?" To mix up a BMW with a Merc! I'll send you my seconds!

Seriously now (but not to much ) Thanks for your post.

Oh dear.... The rules of a duel state that the challenged must accept the invite to the duel lest he will be known as a coward for the rest of his life. Pistols or rapier?

You are absolutely right. My mistake. I immediately changed it. Still good work though.

More likely: "Paintbrush or airbrush?"

But one thing remains: "Thanks for your compliment!!

And when will we see your lady "In the Mud?"

@ Javier
I prefer the Classic brush duel

The lady in the mud will be a bit in the future. Even though I have the styrofoam basis finished I need to finish some things first. Among them some reviews and a diorama for a client.

Here are the requisite opening pictures as I start my build. I think I will paint it white like the vehicle Elvis had in Germany

BMW's best looking car - look forward to seeing this one done as I've thought about getting it myself.

Is the BMW 507 still in production? I also would love to get my hands on one of them.

I've often thought of doing one also in white as Elvis had, but adding the love messages written in lipstick. That is the reason Elvis changed to a red 507 - to stop it getting "vandalized"...

Still available from second-hand dealers, I don't think it's currently in production.

This was only my 2nd Mini Art kit and these kits are not for the novice there are a lot of delicate and really small pieces. This was also only the 2nd civilian auto that I have done since coming back the the hobby, always room for improvement

oops just noticed that the spare needs some touch up ok I'll fix that before I call it finished

Nice one, Sal! I was thinking of that spare too, but then you caught yourself. I really like the color combinations you used inside and out. Danke!

Since the initial set is "somewhere out there" with the dishonest finder of my phone this shot is "middle of build"

This is the 1:35 scale CMK kit. Not a real "Käfer" (Sitting on a Kübel base) but "close enough" to build this as a rusty civilian "Brezelkäfer" sitting in a back yard.

The kit is "interesting". Hull thickness would better fit an MAN product of the time and the interior is a bit basic (even for a Käfer). But it fits decendly and goes together quickly.

Will likely do a 170V "Taxi" as well.

Greetings

@Sal- Nice job, like the color contrast!

@Hakan- hey no problema Nice clean lil build.

@Darrell- what a cool car! Like to see this one being built.

@MBR- Nice kit, gonna be a beater out in yard? Great idea, and will be watching for the "Taxi"...

@Javier/Robert- Any updates re the brush v brush "duel"?

Cheers Dave

Well, after two colds in three weeks , some busy days at work, and other projects meddling around...

Now, I'll try to catch the rest of the interior...

MBR, hopefully your phone turns up someday. In the meantime, I am building the same kit in the "Herbie" boxing, but I started making variations to replicate the 1963(?) version used in the movie "The Love Bug". I'll watch your two coming together and post pics when I get to mine (after my jeep, after my strange weird vehicle, after my Saddle-breaking figure).
Prost!
